Question: Consider the same public health issue, population and population groups as in Assignment

1. Discuss the impact of TWO successful public health primary prevention interventions/programs. The interventions may have: reduced the impact of the contributing environmental or social determinants; modified relevant health behaviours; reduced relevant health risks; and/or have measurably reduced the prevalence/incidence of the health issue. If you are unsure about the interventions you have chosen, please discuss them with your tutor. Common errors made by past students in their choice of interventions/program:

? DO NOT choose medical, treatment or support interventions that are aiming to improve the health of people who are already diagnosed, showing symptoms or unwell.

? DO NOT discuss two types of interventions giving examples from several different programs. Chose TWO specific, named programs to discuss.

? DO NOT choose a large national multi-faceted program/campaign as this will be difficult to discuss within the scope of this assignment. If you find a large complex intervention, chose ONE program within it to discuss in detail.

? DO NOT choose a national policy plan. If you are interested in policy interventions, you can choose one policy that has been implemented and subsequently evaluated.

? YOU MUST choose a program that has been evaluated i.e. research has been undertaken to prove the measurable impact of the program. It is not enough to discuss what activities were undertaken, you also need to discuss how they created measurable change. You are expected to:

1. briefly introduce the issue, population, population group, risks and determinants you identified in Assignment 1 (take care not to copy any wording as Turnitin will detect this and this is considered self-plagiarism); and

2. for each intervention/program:

? describe the intervention/program;

? summarise the measureable impact of the interventions;

? critically analyse why the interventions were successful with mention of strengths and limitations; and

? identify the lessons to be learned from the intervention which will inform future public health action.

2. If you cannot find any interventions that have been implemented with your chosen population, you are able to select interventions that have proved effective in similar populations - or in the same population with similar health issues. Make your rationale for your choice very clear - you need explain how your choice is appropriate. You will lose marks if you present a program that would be inappropriate for your chosen population group (e.g. a program embedded into school curriculum for children in Germany when your population group of interest is adult Aboriginal Australians living in a remote area). When you discuss Indigenous or Aboriginal people, ensure you are using relevant and appropriate evidence, for example, take care citing information about Canadian First Nations people and applying this inappropriately to Australian Aboriginal people. Ensure that the interventions are as different as possible (e.g. a screening program, a social marketing campaign or a community-based intervention aiming for environmental change). If you choose interventions that seem similar, you must make a clear case as to what different insights they offer and how they are contributing different ideas or evidence to the recommendations you make. As with Assessment 1, you are required to locate, select and clearly present relevant information from a range of current peer-reviewed and reputable sources - journal articles, books and reports from reputable university/government/international organisations. You also need to ensure that you choose currently accepted public health interventions. Most of your references would thus be published within the last 10 years. It is possible for you to cite older sources if you find early interventions that were never published in detail again once the efficacy a fundamental idea was proven and subsequently implemented. In addition to the two articles describing your chosen successful interventions, it is expected that you will source information to support your comments from at least 9 appropriate sources. Take care not to overuse websites (use no more than 3) and to only use academically credible websites. As with Assignment 1, a downloaded PDF report counts as a report rather than a website. Present your paper in accordance with the requirements described in the faculty assignment presentation guide. Note that the 2,200 word count is NOT to include the title page, contents page, or reference page. Graphs, tables or flowcharts are NOT required. If you have any questions after reading the relevant sections of the Guide to Assignment Presentation, please ask your tutor. Time will be set aside in class to discuss assignment requirements and this will be recorded for external online students.

Marking criteria and feedback guide: You will be marked on the following criteria:

? Development of your thesis (main idea); ? Content knowledge;

? Development of ideas;

? Presentation of evidence to support your comments;

? Logical organisation; and ? Use of information sources. Specifically, you will be given feedback as to:

? How well you have described the interventions/programs,

? Summarised the impact of the interventions/programs,

? Critically analysed their success discussing strengths and limitations, and

? Identified lessons learned which will inform future public health practice. Marks will be removed for poor citation, referencing and written style.

Carefully read the feedback guide for this assignment under ‘Assessments' in Blackboard to ensure that you have met all the required criteria before submitting your assignment......i have taken lung cancer in chinese men as my first assignment and the risk factors which i took is smoking, environmental pollution (indoor and outdoor). so the second assignment will be talking about the intervention programe in china for example, anti smoking campaign (eg, mass media smoking campaign), smoke free places, tobacco conytrol measures etc. but I only allowed to take two successful intervention which implemented in china. if u have any queries i can send my assignment1 for a reference.
