Problem

Former President Donald Trump is currently in the midst of several ongoing court battles. It seems that the most consequential of these cases may not happen before the election. The trial regarding Trump conspiring to steal the 2020 election is being put on hold with arguments of him being immune from prosecution for "official acts" he took as president. With the current argument before the Court it is not yet clear if or when the trial will go forward. "Overall, the argument was much less about the specifics of the Trump prosecution and much more about the broader question of prosecuting a former president for his conduct while he was in office." The case regarding Trump paying 'hush money' to Stormy Daniels, and using falsified business records to cover it up is continuing as planned so far. There has been damming testimony from the former publisher of the National Enquirer, David Pecker, that may make the felony charges against Trump stick. The prosecution wants to "prove that hushing up Daniels was an effort to influence the election. And Pecker's testimony helps them do that." This is something that not only political science students need to keep an eye on, but all citizens. The allegations alone for this former President should make people wary of having them represent the entire Country. How can we entrust our livelihoods to someone who is seemingly so untrustworthy?
