Assignment: The Lesson Learned from The Intervention in The Article Analysis
For this assignment, you will locate a research study on group therapy and apply the findings to a best practice that you would like to learn. Find a scholarly article and evaluation studies on group therapy for this assignment. Again, research studies can be identified by a sample size or a case study implementing an intervention and reporting the outcomes. The scholarly research study that you find and use for this assignment must be different from the one you used in previous Workshops.
Task
A. Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.
B. Find a scholarly article and evaluation studies on group therapy for this assignment, and evaluation studies on group therapy that evaluates the effectiveness of a specific intervention for groups.
C. Write a paper addressing the following questions or prompts:
a. What did you learn about the intervention described in the research article?
b. Does the approach (or intervention) seem to resonate with your own personal and professional values? Describe and explain.
c. How was the model or intervention evaluated?
i. How large was the study population and did the population include diverse people?
ii. Did the study use experimental and control groups (if it didn't, how does that impact the study results)?
iii. Did the study use trained therapists (trained in the model or intervention being evaluated)? If not, how does this impact the study results?
iv. What were some important ethical considerations of the study and how were they addressed?
d. What advanced group therapy skills did you learn about?
e. Do you think you would utilize this intervention or model in your work as a group therapist with diverse groups? Why or why not?
f. Does the model or intervention help advance group members' human rights? If so, how? If not, would you use the intervention anyway? Why or why not?
g. What are the conclusions that you draw after analyzing and evaluating this study (for your own practice and for social work in general)?
