How was reading addressed in your home when you were a child? Did the adults in your household read books, magazines, or the newspaper themselves? Were you read to? Were you encouraged to read to yourself when you were able? Did you have your own library at home or spend time choosing books at a local library? 3. What was your experience like as a reader at school? Did you struggle with reading or find it tedious or boring, or was it something you looked forward to? Did those feelings change as you got older?

1. Are you a good writer? What do you enjoy about writing? What elements of writing and the writing process do you struggle with? Have you ever used a writing tutor, either through BMCC or as a younger writer? 2. What was your relationship with writing as a child? Did you write only for school assignments or as a form of expression also? 3. What is your relationship with writing like now? Do you write as a form of expression? (I.E. poetry, journaling, blogging, etc.) If you DON'T write as a form of expression currently do imagine that could change as you get older? 4. Are you a better writer because you read or a better reader because you write? What influence do you believe one skill has on the other?
