Question: For nurses and their patients, nurse burnout is a critical issue related to their jobs that can have negative effects. Unfortunately, nursing burnout is on the rise, which makes it more crucial than ever to understand how to treat and avoid this disease (American Nurses Association, 2023). Some sources of job stress for nurses include long hours, lack of sleep, and a high-stress environment. Burned-out nurses believe that their resources are exhausted to the point that their health is in jeopardy. Usually, a self-analysis reveals the signs of burnout. First, one might identify a sense of exhaustion-physical, mental, and emotional (Yoder-Wise, 2023). Depersonalization, characterized by a situation in which one distances themselves from the task itself and adopts unfavorable views toward labor in general, is a second sign of burnout. Depersonalization is frequently described as having a "unreal" sense of being outside of one's body, feeling like a machine or robot, or being "on automatic pilot." Typically, the nurse feels apprehensive and anxious when experiencing subjective symptoms of unreality. Nurses who are under pressure to accomplish too much in too little time may withdraw from patients as a way to cope with their emotional stress (Yoder-Wise, 2023). The third sign of burnout is a diminished sense of professional achievement and competence. Burnout in nurses is a serious occupational disorder that can have serious negative effects on both nurses and their patients. Unfortunately, nursing burnout is on the rise, making it more crucial than ever to understand how to treat and avoid this disease (Yoder-Wise, 2023).
