In 2011, nearly 72% of data breaches were at companies with fewer than 100 employees. Some ways that businesses can protect themselves from data breaches is by updating their anti-virus software, companies should also invest in additional types of security measures other than anti-virus software (i.e. patch management, intrusion detection, and intrusion prevention), files should be backed up (i.e. Network Attached Storage (NAS)), mobile security should be ensured, and end users should be educated on things like what corporate information is and why it must remain secure.
