Question: I defiantly learned a lot through taking this course. I was not familiar with how to establish a program and then how to implement that program in different settings. I really loved this course because it allows us as professionals to have the ability to stand up for whatever we believe in within the field we go into. It was refreshing to go onto Zoom where everyone''s programs were so unique to where they want to impact society. Instead of all of us having the same impact but with different programs. I am an ESE undergraduate major so implementing programs is common in school settings. I could defiantly see myself in the future being a part of a team of program designers or creating a team myself to implement something new into the school system. The program I created in this course could also be something I take to Florida schools one day to try and implement. Establishing a Peer Mentoring program in all PE courses I know would benefit students with DD. I am definitely going to keep my eyes open in the future for ways to implement programs in my work life.

One thing I learned deeply in this course is creating a needs assessment. I was fascinated to read about different countries that created needs assessments around health and medical care. On one token, I thought a needs assessment would be for something basic but to see it used to establish healthcare in other countries is so fascinating. I really loved how the needs assessment is based on other people trying to support one another than people just trying to help themselves. Another tool I will take away from this course is the importance of creating a well-rounded mission statement. When families, teachers, school professionals, or other community leaders establish a program people need to know what it is. There are so many times I try and evaluate companies and their mission statements don''t tell me enough about them. I never realized how important they were until I started to create my own program and needed a general idea of what my program was going to do so I could stay focused. Establishing a clear mission statement will only make my program better. The final key takeaway I am leaving this course with is the importance of measurement. Programs like the ones we''re creating and the ones created in the world would not be effective if program designers can not prove them. Every individual and member of the program needs feedback and evaluations constantly in order to prove effectiveness. If programs are not monitored closely they won''t work. Altogether this course taught me so much that I can not wait to take into my future practice.
