Question: The technology I researched is the implementation of Self Checkouts. Before starting my research I never realized the decades of work that had to take place before self checkout could become a reality. Example, UPC codes had to be developed and widely used before the start of self checkouts. Because of this class my definition of technology has changed in that I appreciate how current technology builds on previous technologies. In the past I just used new technology without much thought as to how it got to where it is. The four lens approach to the study of technology helps me to understand the history, the new technology and the acceptance of new technology by society.

• As technology changes I think technologists have learned how to deploy new or enhanced technologies to best obtain acceptance from the end user.
• In my own life, I will appreciate the effort that goes into the deployment of new technologies, not only to work the way they are meant to, but the focus on trying to make the end user (me) accept it.
• Can you give me feedbacks on what I wrote above due to the approach of technology through the four lenses and how could the insights be useful to you, in your perspective.
