In this assessment, you will look at understanding skin and nail conditions, and how to deal with contraindications at Beautiful Beginnings in relation to gel nails and beauty treatments.
You will also look at product knowledge and ingredients used in a range of professional products, along with the chemical components and effects of products and ingredients on the skin and nails.
2. Brief
In completing this assessment, you will demonstrate that you understand:
• nail diseases and disorders
• how to deal with contraindications and refer to the appropriate professional as needed
• the products and ingredients used in gel nail treatments
• benefits, effects and contraindications to a range of beauty treatments
• how to treat adverse effects
• selecting products and tips for gel nail services
• professional product ranges.

1. Contraindications and skin/nail conditions
Complete all areas of the table to identify the contraindication, and provide a description of the contraindication and the action of what you would do, and who you would refer the contraindication to in relation to gel nails.

4. Identify each adverse effect from gel products used during the gel nail enhancement. Using your own words, explain how you would modify the treatment, and the remedial action you would take.
