The urinary system, particularly the kidneys, is a highly underrated body system. Most only associate it with the removal of wastes, but it also helps us to maintain water balance, aids in maintaining proper blood pressure, and is an integral part of acid-base balance and the maintenance of blood pH.

After fully completing the textbook readings and learning module, Urinary System, think about all that you have learned these past five weeks:

1. We learned how to combine word roots with various suffixes and prefixes to change their meaning.

2. We learned how to understand medical terms by breaking them down into their basic constituent parts.

3. We learned how to spell and pronounce various medical terms, as well as the general structures and functions of main body systems and associated diseases.

This accomplishment represents the beginnings of a useable and understandable medical language.
