Excess air level of 5% was used in this furnace. H2 = 42%, CH4= 23.7%, CO=12.4%, CO2 = 7.1% and N2 = Rest. As their energy engineer you are asked to calculate the actual air flow rate (m3/h) to the furnace and the flue gas composition. Do it in steps as outlined below and provide the answers for each step

Clues:

Given that the fuel is gas, its composition is in molar percent. So assuming that 100 kg. moles as basis,

1) calculate the moles of O2 required for each species going in: H2 kg. moles, CH4 kg. moles; CO kg.moles: CO2 kg. moles and N2 kg moles.

2) Calculate the total moles of O2 required for 100 kg. moles of gas to be burnt?

3) Since there is excess air used, calculate the actual moles of O2 required and the air required.

4) Since the air is going at 25 C and assuming atmospheric pressure, calculate the actual volume of air

5) Calculate the number of moles of CO2, H2O, O2 and N2 in the flue gas?
