How to best to interpret test results to clients

Question: Communicating results to clients is often one of the most important aspects of the assessment process. If counselors are so well-trained in communication skills, why does the interpretation of assessment results require them to have even more specialized knowledge and skills? Although there is not a great deal of research on how to best to interpret test results to clients, what are some general guidelines that all practitioners can follow for this important activity?
