You work for Allen Steel for 10 years, and are an exemplary employee.
But you just got a new manager a few months ago, and she is a real piece of work. She micro-manages every thing you do, even though you know more about your job than she does. If you're 1 minute late, you are chastised in front of the whole work crew. If you aren't smiling when you work, she yells at you to "put on your happy face". She constantly belittles the quality of your work, with comments like "an ape could have put that one together better than you did". She's taken away your lunch hour and made it a lunch half-hour, and demoted you from foreman to lineman, with no explanation and a big cut in pay. Your nerves are shot, you're exhausted, and when you try to talk to her about it, she says you'd just better get used to it, because there's a new sheriff in town.
You can't take the stress any more, and walk out one day when she tells you it's a miracle she hasn't fired you yet. When you apply for unemployment benefits, your company disputes your claim, and says you quit on your own so you don't qualify.
What might you claim (other than some kind of discrimination claim) related to your discharge? Explain in detail.
