Case Study: When it comes to health care facilities, I currently work for Advocate Aurora Health of which is a non profit organization. I would prefer to continue to work for a non profit organization. When it comes to non profit vs for profit organizations, a non profit facility is going to be about working for a social cause and working towards benefiting the public in some way and focusing on the companies over all goals. In the case of healthcare this can mean having more of a focus on improving health care programs to better serve patient's and provide better care. A for profit organization is more focused on the improvement of the organization as a whole and the companies incentives. Regarding Advocate Aurora Health being a non profit organization, this has the added benefit of offering volunteer opportunities for employees and offers contributions to be made to the Advocate Charitable fundraiser and the Aurora Health care Fundraiser. It is nice to know the organization I work for donates to a cause benefiting others. A for profit organization is going to take more of an initiative on satisfying the needs of the clients and businesses they partner with that provide services and products. In general it appears there is going to be more of a focus on company structure instead of bettering the community or working towards a good cause. However, looking at things objectively- even if a organization is not for profit and working towards a good cause, this does not necessarily reflect the patient care provided. I think that a for profit organization could still provide patient care that exceeds expectations and could even perform better or the same, as a non profit organization.

Is it the way they give back to the community, how they interact with their patients? Is there any greater liability in being a health care provider/staff for one type of facility verses another
