Ethics addresses the question, " How ought one act in a given situation?"
Using the symbol of a pentagon (see www.visioncireles.net) to represent five dimensions of human development (self, marriage, family, career, society);
Question 1. Identify the ideals and their corresponding practical concepts pertaining to each dimension that will guide and actualize human development;
Question 2. show how these ideas and practical concepts pertaining to each dimension are necessary for successful development.
Refer to the theorists studied to support your point of view.
Eg. Aristotle demonstrates that wisdom is necessary for personal development and that particular virtuous actions contribute to the realization of wisdom.
Eg. Mill emphasizes the ideal of social interest and the habit of connecting our self-interest to the interests of others. Our actions ought to promote the most good for the most people. How does this ideal and its corresponding practical concepts apply to family?
Eg. Kant claims that the ideal of a good action is to treat a person as an end and never as a means. What practical concepts are necessary to realize this ideal in marriage.
Eg. The ideals of natural law are wisdom and insight necessary to proclaim laws to ourselves and to society based on our understanding of human nature. How does this point of view apply to social issues?
