Case Study: For this discussion, you'll first read Six Tips for Making a Quality Report Appealing and Easy To Skim Links to an external site.and then "Beautiful Reports: The Non-Designers Guide to Designing Business Reports," a PDF located in this week's module. These readings will provide information about what makes for effective report design and will provide tips for how you can on your own.
After learning about what makes for effective report design, you'll then review the Sample Reports 1 & 2, located in this week's module. Note: These reports were submitted for a previous version of this assignment with different guidelines. You should use them as references, not as a template to copy directly.
You will also notice that these reports are very different visually. One is designed using an online template from Canva, and relies heavily on visuals. The other was created in Microsoft Word and is less visually oriented, although it still uses layout and formatting choices appropriate to the genre.
After reviewing the sample reports, you'll analyze and critique them by drawing on the criteria for effective and beautiful reports located in the readings. You'll also evaluate how the reports use research. Respond to the questions below:
Question 1: Based on the readings, identify at least 2 elements of effective report design you see in the sample reports.
Question 2: Evaluate how the writers use design elements throughout the reports. How do these elements either enhance or detract from the report content?
Question 3: How do the writers weave their interview information into the reports? What role does the interview material play in supporting the writer's own ideas?
Question 4: Secondary research (through popular sources) is an important component of Project 3. How is research incorporated into these reports and what function does it serve? How does it work with or challenge the interview material?
