You have been appointed as an economic advisor to top-level management in a UK-based company (to save words, there is no need to name a company). You may choose a sector, which then must be stated explicitly.

Research the current state of play of the following macroeconomic objectives for the UK, including relevant current statistics and graphs:

• Controlling inflation
• Stimulating economic growth
• Managing employment and unemployment
• Achieving and maintaining a balance of payments

Compose a report to the top managers of your company that:

1) Critically assess why and how the war in the Ukraine affects these macroeconomic objectives.

• Critically assess why and how the war in the Ukraine affects the four objectives (therefore, do not simply describe "what happened", which substantially differs from critically assessing why and how the war affects these objectives). To achieve a high extent, your critical assessment must be the centre piece of your discussion! This means that it will be insufficient to have only a few sentences on why and how.
• Simply saying or asserting why and the objectives change, without justifying and substantiating using academic articles, is not a critical assessment; it will be insufficient.
• Hint: simply reporting your research markedly differs from critically assessing why and how the war affects the four objectives. You must work out the difference before you start typing.
• Your critical analysis must explicitly engage with your statistics and graphs (do not simply include graphs and stats while leaving them hanging). This entails not including too many stats and graphs-depth is much more important than breadth.
