Problem: Each of the articles for this unit explored pieces of the past that aren't generally known. How and why do facts go missing? How much of the story of history is the story of how the stories are put together and by whom? Or to look at another angle, why do the stories we know become the stories we know? Who, if anyone, makes the decisions about how we interpret our past? And from yet another angle, if the sources are there, why haven't people made the effort to study them? How often do you go to sources or do you trust the story tellers? Where do you get your stories? Why do you trust them? Is it because of the facts or is it because the story supports what you already believe?
