Write a brief Rhetorical Analysis of the speech
Paragraph 1:
- Start your analysis by introducing the speech you are analyzing: stating the speaker (name and credentials), the title of the speech, and when & where it was delivered.
- Then state the purpose of the speech, who do you think the target audience is / who do you think this speech was addressed and CAN refer to.)
- End the 1st paragraph by stating your opinion/ claim about the speech: was it powerful and well- delivered? Why? Make sure to state that the speech is using several rhetorical appeals (if you want, you can also name the appeals) which certainly make the speech more.......
Paragraph 2 and 3:
- State how the speech is using Ethos, Pathos, Logos, and Kairos. (As a writer, you decide how to compose these paragraphs, which appeal to start with, how much to write about each, etc.)
- Make sure you address ALL the 4 appeals and explain by referring to the speech.
- When discussing the use of each of the rhetorical appeals, consider what supporting information, references, and examples the speaker is using. To support your explanations of the use of the rhetorical appeals, you can quote from the speech and/or refer to an example the speaker provides, and/or briefly summarize the part from the speech that you think supports / shows the use of a certain appeal.
Paragraph 4:
- Conclude your analysis by providing your opinion about the speech. Did the speech impress you, or somewhat affected you? In what ways? (How did you perceive the speech as an audience when you saw/heard it first time, and stating how this speech can benefit YOU?)
