Below are some noteworthy brief examples of how the remote environment has changed in U.S. businesses over the years in the following areas:
Economic: The economy is currently in a holding pattern right now because of the COVID 19 pandemic. As a result, companies are not making any new investments. Many major corporations are going out of business. Because of the trade-wars, companies are reluctant to venture out to other countries because of the uncertainties.
Social: Because many of the workers today are Baby Boomers, organizations are having to put more focus on healthcare and quality of life programs. Also, people are having to social distance because of the pandemic. Therefore, many workers are working from home.
Political: As stated with the economy, the trade wars have caused a political firestorm at the Whitehouse and in congress.
Technological: Because so many people are now teleworking, people are creating virtual offices. Schools are closed, so students have to access their classrooms via computer. Now people are more tech-savvy than ever, who were not before. Internet providers have had to increase the capability to be able to support the increased use of services. Lastly, online communication had increased with the utilization of services such as Zoom and Microsoft teams.
Ecological: Many believe global warming has caused an increase in stronger storms. Many also believe pollution is a cause of changes in the weather. The car manufacturers are under a lot of pressure to lower the emissions of gas-powered vehicles. They have been tasks to produce more hybrid-powered vehicles. The challenge is to produce these vehicles where they are affordable.
