Assignment:
In this part, you will learn how to take snapshots of items of interest in Google Earth Web. The goal is to produce a screenshot of the Appalachian Mountain range in a three-dimensional (3D) view as seen from the South.
Step 1- Navigation
The initial step is to figure out how the navigational controls operate. Let us start by zooming in and out and panning around using all the different controls.
Step 2- Point of Interest
Fly yourself to" "Mount Mitchell," the highest point of the Appalachians by using the Search button. The method to get a good snapshot of an elevated point of interest is to get a good vantage for seeing in 3D. It helps to be around the level of the highest topography. Zoom in until you are at about eye altitude of Mt Mitchell. You can find the "eye alt" in the lower right corner of the Google Earth Web window.
Step 3- Rotate, Tilt, and Pan
Next, rotate your view so that you are looking towards the North instead of straight down. Double-click and hold your mouse down to rotate the map view. Then, click the compass indicator button to adjust the view to North. Note: The red tip points North, and the white tip points South.
Now, move to the South and away from Mount Mitchell to get a better viewpoint. You should see that you are moving away from the highest mountains.
Step 4- Snap a Picture
Finally, take a screenshot of your view in Google Earth Web by pressing and holding down the "ctrl" and "prt sc" keys on your computer's keyboard. (Mac users: "Command" + "Shift" + "3"). Paste your image in a program of your choice (such as Paint or Word or preview in mac). Feel free to crop undesired borders in your screenshot.
