Question

For my project the species I am picking is the African Forest Elephant (Loxodonta cyclotis). They are listed as critically endangered on the IUCN Red list and now only are found in 25% of their former range. They have many threats to them and their habitats. A few of those include drought, war, logging, fire and hunted for their tusks and because they can be a nuisance to the local communities. They were last assessed in November of 2020 and there are management plans in place for them like anti-poaching methods. Even with those protections they still are seeing a sharp decline in almost every country they are found in. I picked this species to do my project on because I have always loved elephants and I one day want to work with them in some form. I also picked them because they face so many problems and I want to know all they things being done to mitigate those. I also want to learn more about how the different countries communicate and if they work together to help protect them.
