In this SLP assignment for Module 4 our emphasis will be on information literacy, a key learning outcome not only for our degree programs in business but for our university as a whole. A different grading rubric will be used for this assignment than the one used for your previous SLPs this session.
For your final SLP, you will be integrating information from an organization you currently work for or have worked for in the past with information that you find on controlling operations in the industry you work in. This will require you to utilize both information from your first-hand knowledge at your job as well as information from various sources from the Trident library and other resources.
More specifically, write a three-page paper addressing the following questions:
1. Describe how the control function of management is done at your organization. Briefly discuss how each of the four main steps in the control process as discussed on pages 237-238 in Bhattacharyya (2009) or pages 234-236 of Jeyarathmm (2008) are managed in your organization. [One page in length]
2. Review the discussion of different control systems on pages 237-245 of Jeyarathmm (2008). Then do a search in the Trident library as well as on Internet search engines and find at least one article about organizational control systems. After researching different control systems, discuss which control system that you read about would work best for your organization. Also, discuss the credibility of the article or articles that you found on control systems. [One page in length]
3. Finally, find an article on how controlling is done specifically in the industry that you work in. Discuss the credibility of this article, and also discuss how useful you think this article would be to management at your organization. Would they be able to use anything in this article to improve their organizational controls? [One page in length]
