How the company should proceed

Read the following scenario and provide your thoughts on how the company should proceed:

"You are a project manager for ABC Company. The company wants to purchase new equipment, train employees on the equipment, and then fully integrate this equipment into the company's day-to-day processes. You developed a plan that detailed how and when the equipment will be obtained, the timeframe for training employees, and how the equipment will be fully integrated. The equipment arrived on the scheduled date, but you soon realized you forgot to include a plan that outlines how employees will be trained on the equipment. Training is scheduled to start in three days, but without a plan you do not know what to teach the employees about the equipment. The plan has already been initiated and time and resources have already used."

For this discussion, you will need to compose a substantive post that details a simple solution for the company's problem. The goal of the company is not to completely abandon the project as they have already put in time and resources. After identifying the solution, consider how you plan to implement it. Since you are a manager you need to put your solution into action.

Response to the Scenario

As the manager it is my responsibility to ensure new equipment training is conducted within the time limit slotted.  I would exhaust every avenue at my disposal to meet this timeline.  I would contact the company first to see if a field representative could provide train the trainer training to the selective subject matter experts that were originally engaged in the initial demonstration before we received the equipment (Montgomery, 2019). I would also find experience trainers in the departments where the equipment was scheduled to go.  I would get competent employees that already had first-hand knowledge of the new equipment being implemented; preferably personnel who have some instructor training experience teaching others in the company.

The Field representative would spend one day training the selective five trainers on the system.  My plan would be segment the population by management and everyday users.  I would dedicated the A.M. portion of the day to management and the P.M. portion to everyday users of this equipment.  The third day would be just for users and any managers that wanted to sit in to see what we were teaching their staff.  Because we have resources like the venue already scheduled, I would have all five of my trainer in one room training my personnel to ensure everyone received the same training.  The trainers would be able to complement each other by filling in gaps that the other trainer might have missed.  These trainers already know the audience so they will be able to adapt the speed of the training accordingly.  I would departmentalize the training to ensure it is tailored to the different sections in the organization.  Management understands that everything about the equipment will not get covered, therefore, schematics, user's guides, and the training material will be available on the share drive of the company (Montgomery, 2019).  Finally once the training session ends, the original trainers will select users that showed exceptional aptitude to become SME trainers for their sections.  These trainers will be invited back to receive more in-depth training from the field representative once a quarter.
