Assignment:

Using the symbolic-interaction approach, how do we explain how stereotypes can shape the classroom outcomes for students? Schooling both causes and perpetuates social inequality. People create the reality they experience in their day-to-day interaction; if they believe stereotypes to be true, these beliefs become real in their consequences. People who are being discriminated against based on some stereotype are motivated to try harder. There is little evidence to support the claim that stereotypes find their way into school classrooms.
