1. Warranty Review Assignment. Find a "warranty" pertaining to the sale of goods. Normally, these are included in the boxes containing electronic devices, home appliances, and electrical tools. You can also find them at tire stores-simply ask for one at the counter. The warranty must include language that modifies the normal UCC warranties (title, fitness for a particular purpose, and/or merchantability). Identify the location of each UCC warranty that is referred to in your warranty example, and then explain whether or not it has been modified on your form. If it has, explain how, and also explain whether or not the modification is allowable under the UCC. Also identify whether the Magnuson-Moss warranty has been modified, and exactly how. Last, explain what is "left over" (in terms of warranties) after all of these modifications-in other words, what does the warranty actually cover after all of the exclusions?.

2. Alternative Dispute Resolution Assignment. Compare the pros and cons of mediation, arbitration, and litigation. Include a discussion of how each has traditionally been used, and which method works best for which circumstance. Cite all references. (Best responses are usually six to ten double-spaced pages.)

3. Foreclosure Sale Assignment. Observe a foreclosure sale of personal property or real estate. Advertisements for foreclosure sales can be found in the Alegal ads@ section of the newspaper (the Medford Mail Tribune has this online). The sales are usually held on the courthouse steps at the Justice Building at 100 S. Oakdale in Medford. Sales are also held by "storage" facilities at their sites. Be sure to check the exact location and time. You may also observe a foreclosure sale online if you can find one and document the site.

Document your observations of the sale. Who was present? What was said? Also note your feelings about the process. Did it appear to be fair? Could there be a better approach? Discuss how the sale fits into the rights and remedies of secured parties.
