Building and maintaining wealth to sustain one's family is an important part of the American dream but for many people, it is exactly that, a dream. In the last chapter we learned about inequality in income. Inequality in wealth is related to, but also goes beyond income inequality. This week you examined how people have traditionally built wealth and the many obstacles they face while on that journey. Use your text (and additional resources if needed) to answer the questions below.

What is wealth and is it spread evenly amongst groups in the United States? Why or why not? In your response, consider age, gender, race, ethnicity, etc. Select and discuss at least two of these groups (some will require an outside source).

"Homeownership is often considered the cornerstone of the American Dream" (p. 231). Residential segregation has a negative impact on people's ability to both own a home and if they own a home use it to build wealth.
