Assignment: Analysis of Data
Refer to the Illinois report card web site please locate (Riverdale School District 148) Principal (S.M.)
You will need 3 sources of data. For example, the data sources could be a state assessment (such as Illinois Assessment of Readiness), and perception data from a survey (such as a state 5 essentials survey of indicators of effective schools). Focus on analyzing data for grade levels not individuals.
Within your 1 page with reference, you will identify three strengths and areas for improvement. You will expand upon this information in Assignment 1. Student achievement data need to be analyzed. For example, is there a grade level that shows an increase in student performance in math over the past 2 years? Is there a grade level that exceeds the state average in math? Is there an achievement gap between subgroups (e.g., low income and non-low income)? Is there a grade level that is below the state average in math? You will also need to analyze data disaggregated by subgroups.
When responding to the Discussion Board 2 questions, no names (e.g., teachers' names, students' names) should be used. Do not share any information that is confidential.
Question I. Based on your analysis of the data, what are three academic strengths you have identified? One strength needs to be 2 years of student growth in the last 5 years.
Question II. Based on your analysis of the data, what are three academic areas of need you have identified?
Question III. What is one academic area of need (from the three you identified in Question II such as closing an achievement gap, improving student performance in ELA or Math) that is to be the focus for your needs assessment in Assignment, and for the other assignments in this course?
