Question: Throughout Act II Hamlet leaves clues about his sanity and motivations if only the other characters were able to detect them.

At II.ii.108-22 Hamlet sends Ophelia a letter that tells her to trust him ("never doubt I love") which she does not fully understand. He calls Polonius a "fishmonger" (II.ii.172) which is Elizabethan slang for "pimp" and is appropriate given how Polonius is willing to use his daughter for his own gain.

I always feel sorry for Ophelia because she is caught between her boyfriend (Hamlet) who seems to have gone off the rails and her father (Polonius) who seems reasonable by comparison.

Your task: Compose a letter of at least two paragraphs that Ophelia might send back to Hamlet in response and that addresses his behavior as it is outlined in this Act. Your letter should demonstrate an understanding of the complexity of the relationship and the dilemma that her current situation imposes. It should be in proper letter format.
