As the global population surpasses the 8 billion mark, the challenge of meeting the nutritional needs of our communities intensifies. Beef has been a crucial protein source worldwide; however, the environmental consequences of cattle farming, required to fulfill the demands of such a large population, have been alarming. The contamination of our water sources and excessive carbon emission into the atmosphere are some of the severe repercussions of cattle farming. The grazing and defecation of cows lead to soil contamination and groundwater pollution, while the release of methane contributes to air pollution (McGechan et al., 2017). In order to mitigate the environmental impact of the meat industry, the concept of artificial meat, lab-grown meat, has emerged. I opine that artificial meat should replace traditional meat gradually, leading to the complete phase-out of traditional meat. This approach would enable us to reduce waste and emissions while simultaneously optimizing land use to cater to the nutritional needs of the expanding population.
