Since historians spend their whole careers focused on one topic and we only have 16 weeks to study over 100 years we obviously cannot dig deep into every event and person. The digging deeper assignment is an opportunity for you to focus on a topic that we cannot discuss in the module readings due to lack of space and time.
To Do:
Pick an event or person listed below that you find interesting. (If you want to do a topic not listed below but you believe it is related to the module, you need to get approval. Non-approved topics will receive a zero.) For your topics, you can either give an overview or pick a specific time/event. For example, if you pick a writer, you can focus on how one of their books changed the field of literature. Or you can provide an overview of their lives.
Research your topic and find information and an image about it. Do a short report on your topic Your report must discuss your topic and why you think it is important when studying American history.
Review your writing for clarity before submitting it. You need to have full sentences, no bullet points, or short choppy sentences.
Your image needs to be of the person or the event. No clipart images! It needs to be a picture that you find on your own and should not be an image that is featured in our module readings. If you think it might not be clear how your image connects to your topic, please share why you picked that particular image.
