Question: Comment on this

The horrifying story of Seba is something that I truly believe many people should read about not just because it's history in itself, but because this needs to create a frame in people's minds about what was a reality for our country and not only that but what may still be a reality till this day in other countries. Another thing that's disturbing to me is the fact that there's still slavery going on in this world today as if people never even learned the lessons about slavery from the past. What is even more shocking to me (tying into a second fact) is how there's an incredibly high estimate for how many slaves there currently are.

It's flat-out disappointing and sad in my opinion and it's something I never knew until now. Another piece of information based on the video I didn't know about which caught my attention was how they said West Europe is where they make the most money through trafficking which left me internally frustrated about why people would do this sort of thing to innocent women who've done nothing but just live their own lives.

A Lesson I learned in the reading was how now given slavery is illegal everywhere, the difference between modern slavery and slavery in the past is how not only is it illegal now but unfortunately, slaveholders (as they refer to them now) see it as less of a hassle to legally own someone and just take control of a person through violence. My other assumption is that slaveholders who run sex trafficking rings and such are more discrete and meticulous in how they keep their unlawful business going. My thoughts on this lay just as they were with internal frustration and disappointment. It's a hard reality to swallow.
