Assignment:

You are in the final six months of your expatriate assignment. Your manager advised that you will return to the same position you held prior to your departure, although the scope of responsibilities and duties has increased 20%. You will be compensated at the same salary with only a 4% increase in the base pay. You sold your house prior to your departure, and your spouse can no longer work because of an injury that occurred while overseas, so your cost of living has also increased.

How will you negotiate a salary increase because of the job expansion and significant increase in the cost of living? What specific points will you address with the manager?
