Two capacitors are connected in parallel with a 12 v battery. Each has plates of area 16 cm^2. The plate seperations are d1=2mm and d2=3mm. The first capacitor has a 2 mm slab of plexiglas between the plates. Find the two capacitances, the stored charge, and the stored energy. The capacitors are now disconnected from the battery but remain connected in parallel with each other. The plexiglas slab is moved from the first to the second. What are the two capacitances then? Calculate the charge on each and the total energy stored. How much work is done to move the slab?
