Question: Governmental transparency is a key component of a democratic government. citizens value open governmental policies and want to be informed as to what their government is doing. How far does this go, however? How much transparency is too much transparency? Conversely, has the government gone too far in protecting information and identities?

Were incidents like the Wikileaks and Snowden leaks truly injurious to national security?

These are the questions that will need to be answered for this paper.

The U.S. Government's Classification System

The methods and procedures that the U.S. Government uses to share information with the public.

The efforts, justifications, and deterrents that the U.S. Government uses withhold "sensitive" information from the public.

Please answer the above questions as it pertains to civilians, military members, foreign nationals, and foreign combatants.
