Tom is driving at 45mph toward a grade crossing, and he is at 800ft from the garde crossing. There is no gate at this grade. Tom make a decisoin to try to beat an upcoming train, which is at 1000ft from the crossing and moving at 40mph when Tom sees it. Assume Tom has a reaction time of 0.6 seconds

1. How far from the crossing will he be when he begins to accelerate?
2. Tom's car accelerate at the rate of 28ft/sec^2, but it has a max speed of 85mph. How fast will it be going when it reaches the crossing?
3. How much time did Tom take to reach the grade crossing? Did he beat the train?
