A Formal Business Report is a document in which a writer analyzes findings, draws conclusions, and makes recommendations intended to solve a problem. Therefore, to begin, we need a problem to investigate.
Problem: Your Boss, Terrence Schnell, owns a local print company. The company, Lahasa Printers, prints posters, flyers, menus, spiral bound books, etc. Terrence has mentioned several times that he is somewhat concerned about the health of his employees. He is interested in their personal welfare, but he also wonders how much the health of his employees is affecting his bottom line. For example, workers regularly call in sick. Fatigue and lethargy slow work down. Workers are not always as efficient or engaged as he would like them to be. He wonders what the company might do to encourage better health and fitness among employees, and he assigns you to write a report answering that question.
To write this report, you will need to do some research to find out more about how health affects workers' performance, as well as what options and approaches other companies use to encourage employee health.
Four to six secondary sources are required. Three must be academic sources. The others should be professional sources such as government agencies or reliable health or medical sources.
The following sections/elements should be included in your report:
Title Page
Table of Contents
Introduction
Background
Discussion - you may group information into titled sections as you prefer
Conclusions
Recommendations
Reference Page
Report Length: 7 pages (The page count of 7 includes the title page, table of contents, and reference page, so the written body portion will be four pages).
