Assignment:

Break a social norm for an extended period of time. There are three rules: in breaking a social norm, you are NOT to

1) break the law,

2) do anything that might scare someone or result in physical violence, or

3) do this project on a college campus. After breaking the norm, write a paper of at least 300 words discussing the norm you broke, the reactions of other people, and your personal reaction to the experience. How important are norms in society? How much of your behavior is filtered through social norms?
