Use the following reaction to determine how much of each product would be released if 42 000 kg (42 tonnes) of methyl isocyanate reacted with excess water: methyl isocyanate + water → 1,3-dimethyl urea + carbon dioxide 2C2H3NO + H2O → C3H8N2O + CO2 2 mol of methyl isocyanate is needed to create 1 mol of 1,3-dimethyl urea and 1 mol of carbon dioxide. 42000kg would produce 24000kg of 1,3-dimethyl urea and carbon dixoide.
