A small motor boat travels with speed of 3 meters per second relative to the water. A boater directs his boats so that his velocity relative to warer makes a 30 angle with respect to the x axis as shown.The water of the river has a velocity of 0.4m/s in the y direction relative to land. the river is 40 m wide.

1) when the boat reaches the opposite shore, how much is th boat displaced in y from its initial position ?

2) the boater instead directs his 3m/s velocity vector so that the boat arrives at the same y voordinate as it started from. how does the times it takes to cross the river with this heding compare to the previous case ?
