What is the theoretical maximum amount of work that could be done by a gas in a piston expanding from 10 L to 20 L (pressure of the surrounding atmosphere is 100 KPa)? What assumptions do you have to make to achieve this theoretical maximum? How much heat must be added in this scenario?
If this is an isothermal process then W=Q but I am not sure how to tell all these processes apart and how to solve this. So the pressure is constant at 100kPa (but the thing is expanding, so that is confusing) and temperature is constant (as it is not mentioned) so the volume is changing. How do find a theoretical max work and how much heat is added?
The force of the expanding gases on a 0.02 kg bullet is given by f=f0-f.1*t . Initially stationary at x=0 , the bullet reaches a speed of 1000 kph by the time it exits the gun. f0 = 7000 N and f1=2.9*106 N/s.
Write a paragraph ( 1 paragraph for i, ii, iii, & iv together) summarizing the following Holistic Methodologies Methods used to analyze environmental flow requirements.)
A town is installing a new 10” main to carry drinking water. The only section remaining to be installed is a segment through the middle of town. However, the excavators discover an archaeological site. The town decides to split the main into two sect..
You have a beaker filled with coarse sand. The capacity of the beaker is 100cm^3. Next, you add to the beaker 40cm^3 of distilled water, filling the water level exactly to the top of the sand.
A 2,150 lb car is traveling at sea level at a constant speed. Its engine is running at 4500 rev/min and is producing 150 ft-lb of torque. It has a driveline efficiency of 90%, a driveline slippage of 2%, 15-inch radius wheels and an overall gear r..
a transmission tower is held my three guy wires attached to a pin at A and anchored by bolts b c and d if the tension in wire ab is 3.6 kn determine the vertical force p exerted by the tower on the pin at A
Also, at the failure cross sections the diameters are found to be 0.731 in., 0.645 in., and 0.587 in., respectively. Determine the percent elongation and percent reduction in area of each specimen.
The drawdown in another observation well 60 m from the pumping well is 1.1 m. Calculate (a) the hydraulic conductivity of the aquifer, (b) the expected drawdown in the pumping well,
Use the strain-transformation equations to determine (a) the in-plane principle strains and (b) the maximum in-plane shear strain and average normal strain.
On a 20 ft cantilever beam, Load W1=200 or W2=500 or both may be applied at the midpoint B or at the end of the beam C. The bending moment induced at th fixed support A, MA, will depend on the magnitude of the loads at B and C.
a ball is thrown with a valocity of 30 m/s at an angle of 40 degrees above the horizontal from the top of a 100m tall building. what is balls velocity when it lands. (neglect air resistance in both cases) DO NOT USE 2D projectile motions, only work ..
