Assignment
Instructions: There are three parts to this assignment. Only Part 3 will be graded.
Part A: Find 3-5 friends, family, or coworkers. With your group, play the Game Board. You can play this game remotely by meeting on Zoom, Teams or Meet. Be sure to record the session. After the game, be sure that each group mate has access to the meeting recording. Please note, there are two parts to this game.
Part B: Watch the recording of you and your groupmates playing the game. Take notes on the following questions:
1. Was it easy to get started? Did you feel comfortable to contribute initially?
2. Was there a formal leader? If so, how did a leader emerge? Was a formal leader needed?
3. What other roles emerged?
4. Did you lose time getting organised? Could you have approached the problem more efficiently?
5. Were all members involved in solving the problem?
6. Were any obvious efforts made to ensure that all were involved in the decision-making? Did you notice whether anyone clearly encouraged someone else to contribute?
7. How did you behave as part of the group? How much did you contribute to the final outcome? Could you have improved the overall performance of the group? Were you satisfied with your role in this group?
8. Do you think you were successful in your task?
9. Did you enjoy this task?
Part C: Write a report that debriefs your experience and analysis of your team while playing the game.
In your report, include:
1. What type of team was this? (review Types of Teams)
2. What roles were present? (Review Belbin team roles)
3. Did any conflict arise? If so, describe. If not, describe why not?
4. Were there any difficulties with cross-cultural communication? If so, describe, if not, describe why not.
5. What teamwork strategies were used by either you or your team to encourage team success?
6. Reflect specifically on your individual contributions. What did you do well, what would you do differently next time?
