At the beginning of 2015, Mazzaro Company acquired equipment costing $120,000. It was estimated that this equipment would have a useful life of 6 years, or 50,000 hours, and a salvage value of $12,000 at that time. Machine use was as follows: 2015 7,500 hours, 2016 10,000 hours, 2017 4,500 hours.

Question 1: Indicate how much depreciation expense should be recorded each year for this equipment using the straight-line method first, then by using units of output/activity, by completing the following table, then calculate the book value at the end of 2017 under each method.
