Question 1: In the social psychology chapter, we see the incredible power of situational factors in influencing human behavior; Milgram's and Zimbardo's studies, in particular, illustrate our potential to do terrible things to each other simply because we've been told to so by some authority figure.

Question 2: Do you think you would have behaved similarly in these situations? If not, do you think the original participants would have said the same thing about themselves if they were taking this class now and asked that question? Similar results have been found in recent followup studies, even using subjects who are educated about these original experiments, and of course we still see similar behavior patterns in real life situations today.

Question 3: Where do you see modern-day examples of this unfortunate human tendency? How much can/should individuals be held accountable for such actions when apparently most people would also carry out such terrible orders in the same context? What do you think can be done, if anything, to help people make better decisions in similar situations (i.e. resist orders when disobedience is clearly the right choice)?
