Take some time to reflect on your personal beliefs and political biases from some of the assessments taken in this module. Remember, there are no right or wrong answers. Use it to help you draft your upcoming Unveiling Bias essay.

  1. What are some of the beliefs and values that are most important to you? How do these beliefs and values impact your everyday life? You may refer to your Personal Belief Statement.
  2. What are some of the experiences that have shaped your beliefs and values in your life so far and how have they impacted you?
  3. How do a background and experiences impact your beliefs and values? Consider material from this module's videos about implicit bias as you formulate your answer.
  4. Reflect on the insights gained from the political bias inventories and/or media bias chart. What surprised you? How might your political biases shape your worldview? Note: you may need to do more research about your results if they are unclear to you. Be sure to give credit to any additional sources you use.
  5. What did you learn about implicit biases from the videos and/or inventories in this module? What steps can you take to be more aware of your implicit biases and to challenge them when they arise? Remember, most people have them on a subconscious level. This does not make you a "bad person".
  6. What are some of the challenges you (may) encounter when engaging with others who have different political views? How can you approach these challenges in a constructive way?
