Common Ground

Consider one of the themes found in this course and to apply it to your own life. This consideration creates a "common ground" that bridges an historic time period with your own unique, contemporary life.

To achieve this, consider the following:

•How might the theme resonate in your professional life?
•How might the theme apply to your degree path?
•How might the theme reflect your own personal ideals and values?

For example, one student considers her professional life and degree path. She is in the U.S. military and is pursuing a political science
degree. In her personal life, she is an athlete and a philanthropist. Themes that resonate with her include heroism, war, balance, and deference to authority. She will then choose one of these themes and explore how it resonates both within its time period and in her professional, educational, and/or personal life.

Initial Post

The Byzantine themes: Christianity, daily life, heroism and love are relevant to my life.

Final essay themes were Faith and Religion which are emblem in Christianity. A daily prayer gives me strength and sincerity in face of life adversity. A family around me show me love and remind me that I will never be alone. My daily life is a journey of faith and compassion.
