Assignment:

We're talking this week about the use of evidence and audience. Think about the way you responded to this week's DQ and the idea of using eyewitness accounts or cases as direct evidence or as additional evidence (stories are direct eyewitness accounts from people who go through the experience of your topic in some capacity and expert opinion - appeals to authority), while data is usually numerical, factual, and logical. Remember your audience will be diverse and targeted by the essay.

Think critically in terms of ethos, pathos, and logos (e.g., credibility, emotions, and logic), and in a short paragraph, respond to the following being sure to support your reasoning and cite your sources: Is balancing strong statists, data, facts, case studies, eyewitness accounts, and other types of scholarly evidence and information a stronger means to prove an argument than using a single type of evidence and how might this "mix" affect your audience's perceptions of your argument? Explain. Why consider audience at all? Why is it important in modern issue argument essay writing that the sources be as current and reliable as possible? Explain.
