In what ways is the director needed to assist staff members to establish respectful and effective relationships with families as the current field of early education has moved to a model of 'family support' where strengths are acknowledged and build upon vs 'us' against 'them'. This shift clearly requires teachers to 'promote family decision-making capabilities and competence'. Families must be treated with respect and the highest regard as they are the child's 'first teachers'.
