Question 1: When learning about teams we need to be cognizant of many factors. Teams are not always the answer. Teams may provide insight, creativity, and knowledge in a way that a person working independently cannot, but teamwork may also lead to confusion, delay and poor decision-making. Conflict among team members is not always a bad thing as it can lead to effective decision making as it can produce accuracy, insight, understanding, trust and innovation. There is no magic formula for designing and maintaining effective teams.

Describe your own team or group, or a team or group you have worked with in the past. What type of team is it? How many people are on the team? How long have the members of the team worked together? What are the most frustrating aspects of teamwork, in your opinion? Which two theories of teams best supports your responses to the above questions?

Question 2: Organizational Development

Policies are usually written to formalize an organization's response to judgment calls in the business environment. Discuss at least two organizational dilemmas and the kind of policies they might require. Are ethical dilemmas more or less significant in multinational organizations? Why or why not?

Employee recruitment and retention are a chronic management challenge. Organizations need to understand how to attract, retain and motivate employees of different ages, genders, cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Discuss the importance of Human Resource Planning and assess the impact of current global trends including growth of the labor force, immigration, and average age/culture/ethnic background of the workforce.
