Expectant mothers have had to find new doctors. In some rural areas, women have had to travel elsewhere to give birth. How did this happen? It's part of the price of the lawsuit crisis. The number of lawsuits Americans file each year is on the rise. Obstetricians are among the hardest hit-almost three out of four have faced a malpractice claim. Many have decided it isn't worth the risk.
